Long ago, in the time before time mattered... two lovers, Delmar and Sedna, embraced one another passionately in the center of a crater deep in the Earth. They loved each other so intensely, a marvelous iridescent glow emitted their sphere. When the Gods took notice of its beauty, they immediately grew envious and threatened by the potency of the magic the lovers had created.

The most powerful of the Gods contrived a plan to offer Delmar an opportunity to become a demigod, something which had never been presented to a mortal before. The Gods began appearing to Delmar in dreams, seducing him with visions of traveling the cosmos and having power and influence over life as he had never imagined. None of these visions included Sedna. Delmar's desire for what the Gods offered grew so much, so fast, it punctured the sphere he and Sedna created and shot straight up to the heavens to grab hold of his status as a demigod.

Upon the transformation completing, Delmar thought of Sedna and wanted to go show his lover the greatness he'd accomplished. The Gods watched with cruel smiles as Delmar came to the realization of what they had planned all along; as a demigod, he would no longer exist on the same astral plane as Sedna and their connection would be severed forever.

Realizing what he had given up in his blind enticement, tears began to flow from Delmar's eyes. They flowed so much that they flooded the Earth's giant craters and became what we refer to today as the Ocean. To this day it is said that although he can travel anywhere in the universe, the ancient Seaweed God still sits alone in the depths of the depths of the deepest ocean. There, he plays an enchanted golden accordion whose music encourages the seaweed to grow and perform a dance which moves his ocean of tears into waves...His song inspired, by the faintest hope that Sedna, although long gone, will somehow see the waves and find his way back to his love.

They say that in the heart of the universe there exists a piano whose keys fade into the infinite.. There dwells a being, guardian and creator at once, who, when playing them, summons new worlds. From the enchanted music spring magical flowers, reborn with every note… each chord becomes a spell, each resonance, a garden, elegantly suspended in nothingness. In the echo of its song, earth, sky, and the unknown intertwine in a wondrous dance that reminds us that creativity and nature…are the same magic

Cuentan que en el corazón del universo existe un piano cuyas teclas se desvanecen en lo infinito… Allí habita un ser, guardiana y creadora a la vez, que al tocarlas convoca nuevos mundos. De su música encantada brotan flores mágicas que vuelven a nacer con cada nota.. cada acorde se vuelve un conjuro, cada resonancia, un jardín suspendido con elegancia en la nada. En el eco de su canción se entrelazan la tierra, el cielo y lo desconocido en un baile asombroso que nos recuerda que la creatividad y la naturaleza…son la misma magia

“A Broken Hourglass..to Stretch Moments With You✨⏳🪄🌟 (2023). Chicago, Illinois, USA.

The shattered hourglass, once a vessel for the orderly passage of time, releases its contents in a beautiful enveloping gesture..as the animated grains of sand escape their structured confinement, they elegantly float and hang in the air, capturing a suspended moment where time loses its grip. Similarly, in the sacred presence of a person who is special to us, time itself becomes pliable. The ordinary boundaries of reality dissolve. The enchanted sands of the broken hourglass convey how the magical essence of love and connection can transcend the ordinary passage of time…They remind us to slow down and savor each second as if it were an eternity, because in doing so we can cast a spell that stretches our moments with the people we love into a surreal, everlasting dream.

Open Books Pilsen is a non profit bookstore that provides children’s books for FREE and all other books on a ‘pay what you can’ model…This place has been truly special to myself and the Pilsen community. I hope that this mural reflects the magic there is to be experienced inside Open Books and shares my love for books and the fantastical worlds they enable us to venture.

I’m filled with gratitude for everyone that has pitched in to help bring this project from a dream to real life…Thank you kindly for your support!

Has estado intentando encontrar..pero lo que necesitas ahora es perder…a perder tu mente, a perderte totalmente. Ven a la deriva, estar entre los sin forma un rato.

You've been trying so hard to FIND but what you need now is to LOSE….to lose your mind, to lose yourself. Come to drift, be amongst the shapeless a while.

On The Wings Of Change

A young girl is enthralled in wonder as she opens a magical book from which the history of Chicago’s women’s suffrage emerges as enchanted pages that whirl all around her. The animated pages contain portraits of key figures in the local suffrage movement. Among the portraits dance a flight of swallows, who are well known for their resilience in long distance migrations, representing the inspiring journey of women who dared to soar to new heights.

The suffragists depicted in this mural are the following: Mary Livermore, Myra Bradwell, Frances E. WIllard, Fannie Barrier Williams, Jane Addams, Catharine Waugh McCulloch, Ida B. Wells, Grace Wilbur Trout, and Agnes Nestor. It was a complete honor to be able to pay homage to these remarkable women.

Cuentan que ciertas canciones pueden desenterrar portales dormidos en las profundidades de la memoria..su vibración se mete hondo en los huesos y la realidad empieza a deshacerse..el tiempo se dobla, los recuerdos empiezan a caer como polvo antiguo, y las fronteras entre el cuerpo y la memoria se vuelven borrosas, como si todo se estuviera disolviendo en un mismo latido. Al ser habitado por esos acordes, uno se desarma..deja atrás su nombre, su forma, y se vuelve pura frecuencia, un eco vivo que respira y recuerda por todos los que alguna vez se perdieron dentro de él.

“The Gramophone of Dreams: Echoes of What Is No Longer There”

They say that certain songs can unearth portals sleeping deep within memory.. their vibrations sink into the bones and reality begins to come undone.. time bends, memories begin to fall like ancient dust, and the boundaries between body and memory grow blurred, as if everything were dissolving into the same heartbeat.
Once inhabited by those chords, one begins to unravel.. leaving behind name and form, becoming pure frequency, a living echo that breathes and remembers for all those who were ever lost within it.

La Segua is a vengeful spirit from a traditional Costa Rican legend. She is said to pose by the roadside as the beautiful woman she once was before she was brutally betrayed by her lover. She appears before drunken/unfaithful men returning home from a nights festivities. After seducing them, she reveals herself as a horrendous monster with the skull of a horse for a head. She carries out her vengeance on the unsuspecting victim in a ruthless attack, which few escape alive.

“La Chusa” Pilsen, Chicago IL, USA (2020).

'La Chusa' is a vengeful spirit from Northern Mexican folklore..She was once a mortal woman who was accused of witchcraft and unjustly murdered for it. Legend has it that in the afterlife, she was enchanted with the form of an owl, so that she may roam the night and reveal herself as an omen of death to those reminiscent of her murders.

Things are not what they seem; Kind grins are bared teeth; Please don’t answer the calls from the trees.

Do not pay them heed; Hear footsteps behind you, beware but don’t fret, they’re just checking.

The air is alive; To help and to hinder, but it’s how some learned to survive.

These woods are too old; Watch for crimson wraiths, keep your strength and wits close should you go,
